The definition of a short ball is a chest pass, bounce, lob or hip.

It is important for players to determine if the length of pass should be either a chest pass or a shoulder pass. To get players reacting automatically to distance and the appropriate pass players need constant practice.

The skill of pass reaction can be crucial in a pressure match as passes should still be controlled in those last few minutes of a close match.

  • I was selected in Mel’s team when I was thinking that it was my last year of playing competitive.

Since being coached by Mel I have played at Tier 1 level for over 6 years and represented Queensland twice at the aged Nationals.
