Energy Netball wishes all the Netball Community a wonderful and safe Christmas. Enjoy the break before the season revs up for 2012.
Elevation – Vertical Jump
Elevation – Vertical Jump
This season I’m going to work extremely hard on the Vertical Jump. Rebounding is as important as an intercept or any other kind of turnover.
Players with other commitments
Players with other commitments
If you are coaching at an elite level you will have players representing other teams. For example, you might have a player in the State Team, School Team, Representative Team and your team.

The Fastnet Netball World Championships begin today in Liverpool, UK, and what started out as a development tournament for up and coming players, is quickly becoming a serious Australia versus New Zealand clash.
Selecting a Balanced Team
Selecting a Balanced Team
What is a balanced team? Ability, attitude, fitness, playing level or age? There is a recipe when selecting your team for the year; you just have to follow it.
Activity Diary
Activity Diary
For those coaches selecting squads or teams before Christmas may need to monitor each player’s pre season personal training. Over the Christmas break it can be difficult to hold regular training sessions so it is a good idea to introduce Activity Diaries.
When is it Time to Teach a Long Ball to Children
When is it Time to Teach a Long Ball to Children
Children are like sponges. They will listen and try anything you teach them. From five years old and even younger, kids will be competent at throwing a chest pass and a one handed pass.
How do you select?
How do you select?
Selecting is a very important process that requires particular skills. Selectors need to be educated on how to select and the club or association should look at conducting courses on ‘How to Select’.
Coach Fit
Coach Fit
Coming soon to Energy Netball is an area that will give all coaches a new lease of life.
Coach Fit will work as the blogs do by only publishing articles and information on our personal fitness and wellbeing. This area will be secured and only available to paid subscribers. Coach Fit will tackle a number of issues pertaining to all coaches looking after themselves and inspiring their players by achieving personal goals and displaying discipline and determination. After asking subscribers in the September Update Newsletter if they would like ‘Coach Fit’ available on the Energy Netball Website, the feedback has been overwhelming.
Attached is a photo of me boating with family and friends off North Stradbroke Island, Queensland, Australia. What a fantastic day.
Coach Fit will be up and running within the next few weeks.

Ok Coaches, now it’s our time to get FIT
For those coaches who are now in off season let’s get moving. If you are fit please ignore my lecture but for those who have slightly gone soft over the season (me included) it’s time to be a Ninja (young folk’s terminology).
ANZ Championship Player Movement
ANZ Championship Player Movement
As the ANZ Championship gathers momentum for 2012, players are scattering to find a team, coach and lifestyle. Some will be on contract for the first time and others will be out to secure a top seven start.

Come on Girls – ‘Team Word’
Sports Psychologists will encourage teams to come up with a team word. This word brings everyone’s focus back on the game or task.

Melissa coached me at State League level for over 10 years.
I was the fittest I have ever been under Mel. I never knew I was capable of that level of fitness. It was the most physically and mentally toughest time of my sporting life but also the most fondest time.
